Dr Rafael Lorenz

Dr Rafael Lorenz is an Associate in the Operations Practice at McKinsey & Company. He has helped major manufacturing clients from a variety of industries (e.g., automotive, chemicals, and technology) to achieve operational excellence.

Before assuming his position at McKinsey, he gained experience in implementing and developing production systems for leading companies such as Bosch GmbH, Trumpf Inc. and Daimler AG.

Rafael holds a doctorate from ETH Zurich, where he graduated at the Chair of Production and Operations Management (POM). His thesis focused on the effective exploitation of digital technologies to enhance lean production systems. The research underlying his thesis was published in leading journals, including the International Journal of Operations & Production Management, the International Journal of Production Research, and Production Planning & Control.
