Enlarged view: Portrait Kammerlander

Dr Philipp Kammerlander is the founder of 1q3, a company providing consulting and education services for firms and institutions adapting to new quantum technologies. He is also a lecturer at the Department of Physics at ETH Zurich. His interests lie in quantum technologies and quantum information processing, in particular quantum computing and its applications. Over the past years he has taught a variety of courses at ETH Zurich, including a block course for D-MTEC and guest lectures for the ETH Risk Center. His passion for teaching and education has been recognised with two Golden Owls, in 2021 and 2022.

Previously, Philipp was the Executive Director of the Quantum Center at ETH Zurich. He joined the Center in its early days and was responsible for setting up the Executive Office, developing the Center’s activities and industry contacts, and further strengthening the quantum community at ETH Zurich and in Switzerland. In this role, Philipp co-founded the Swiss Quantum Days and further developed Quantum Industry Day in Switzerland.

Philipp earned his doctorate in theoretical physics in the Quantum Information Theory group of Professor Renato Renner at ETH Zurich. His thesis focused on new ways of describing the thermodynamic properties of quantum systems. He is a member of the FinsureTech Hub.
